"Train in the Distance" has been out since the end of July, so I felt it was time to let you all know how it's doing.
According to reports from Amazon, I have sold close to 100 books, Kindle and print, including those which were pre-ordered by you all. Not a million seller yet, but…
I am working hard at promoting the book, sending out press releases, updating my blog and addressing various groups about the background to the book and life in South Africa under apartheid. Last week I spoke at a book club in Kfar Saba and on Sunday night (Nov 4) I am addressing ESRA (English-Speakers Resident Association) in Haifa. I have at least two more ESRA talks lined up in the next month and a number of others in planning.
I have received many outstanding reviews – all 5-star – on Amazon and a number of additional glowing reviews beyond the Amazon site. The most significant so far was from Steve Linde (ex-Durban) formerly Editor of the Jerusalem Post and now editor of the Jerusalem Report:
"Your book blew me away... made me laugh and cry. Couldn't put it down. Wow!"
A review will be published in the next edition of the JR in about 10 days' time; another one will be published shortly in the ESRA Magazine and I'm anticipating another review and Q&A in the South African Jewish Report in Johannesburg towards the end of the year. Hashalom in Durban just published a full-page Q&A https://tinyurl.com/y7uc6r9x.
Many ex-school friends have also bought the book and sent me excellent feedback.
